Massive Israeli raids in the West Bank, and the number of detainees has risen to 6,460 since October 7

The occupation forces have arrested 44 Palestinians, including 18 children, from Bethlehem since last night, bringing the number of Palestinian prisoners from the occupied West Bank as of Thursday to 6,460 since October 7, 2023.

The Israeli occupation forces continue to carry out massive incursions, accompanied by arrest campaigns of Palestinians, in several areas of the occupied West Bank, in parallel with the devastating war launched by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip for the 118th day in a row.

Palestinian human rights sources revealed that the occupation forces arrested 44 Palestinians, including 18 children, from Bethlehem from last night until Thursday.

The arrests, according to the same sources, were concentrated in the town of Husan near Bethlehem, “where 30 citizens, including 18 children, were arrested.”

The number of Palestinian detainees from the occupied West Bank rose, as of Thursday, to 6,460 detainees since October 7, 2023, “including those whom the occupation continued to detain, and those who were later released,” according to a joint statement by the Palestinian Prisoners’ and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club.

A TRT news correspondent said that the areas of the occupied West Bank are witnessing a routine scene every day related to incursions, continuous raids, and arrests against a number of Palestinians “as part of the operations launched by the Israeli occupation army in various towns and cities.”

The official Palestinian News Agency reported that the raids carried out by the occupation army are accompanied by “extensive torture operations, severe beatings, and threats against detainees and their families.”

The agency also added that the occupation forces are carrying out “extensive sabotage and destruction operations in citizens’ homes, premeditated killings, and confiscation of vehicles and funds, in addition to extensive sabotage operations targeting infrastructure.”

In its annual report, prisoner affairs institutions indicated that the total number of Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons until the end of December 2023 amounted to about 8,800, including more than 80 female prisoners.

Since the start of its devastating war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation army has intensified its operations in the occupied West Bank, and expanded its incursions and raids into Palestinian cities, villages, and camps, resulting in the martyrdom of hundreds and the arrest and injury of thousands.
