The Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 in 2023 officially opens on September 23 in Hangzhou, China.
The Philippines is sending a delegation of 396 athletes from 40 sports who will try to bring success to the country in the pandemic-delayed continental meet that will run from September 23 to October 8.
The opening ceremonies will be held at Hangzhou Sports Park Stadium. Tokyo Olympians EJ Obiena and Margielyn Didal will serve as the Philippines’ flag bearers for the rites.
And so it begins.

Gilas Pilipinas triumphed over visiting Changwon LG Sakers on Friday night, pocketing some sort of a morale boost ahead of the 19th Asian Games.
The Philippines held off the Korean Basketball League semifinalists in Justin Brownlee’s first-ever competitive game since a procedure to clear his left ankle of bone spurs, and at a time when the basketball leaders hold their breath over the eligibility of four of its original picks for the final roster.

HANGZHOU, China—Women power was at the heart of a magnificent Philippine finish back in the 2018 Asian Games (Asiad) in Indonesia.
It would be nice if Filipino male athletes could earn their share of the spotlight this time.
Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Bambol’ Tolentino reiterated on Friday his goal of at least matching the four-gold haul from four years ago—only this time, he hopes the men will come to save the day.

HANGZHOU, China—While a medal in the 19th Asian Games could stand out as a highlight in their resume, the country’s sharpshooters won’t veer away from the ultimate dream of boarding a flight next year to the Paris Olympics.
Olympians Jayson Valdez, Paul Bryan Rosario and Eric Ang will keep their eye on the prize as the Philippine national shooting team seeks to end its dearth of medals in the continental scene.
