Libertarian populist Javier Milei is the president-elect of Argentina, who ran on slashing the country’s socialist government and restoring sound money for the impoverished country.

His number one enemy? Socialism. But socialism is more than just a welfare state and poorly-run healthcare systems.

Milei has seen what happens, and he has a warning for the American people.

‘We cannot take a day off, because when we rest, socialism creeps in’

For decades, socialist presidents and politicians have wrecked Milei’s country of Argentina. Last month, he had a chance to sit down with Tucker Carlson about what is happening in his country.

Carlson asked what advice he might have for Americans who might be inclined to give socialism a chance.

Milei didn’t hold back.

“Socialism is a violent, murderous, and impoverishing phenomenon,” Milei said.

“Never embrace the ideals of socialism,” Milei warned. “Never allow yourselves to be seduced by the siren song of social justice. Don’t get caught up in that terrible concept that where there is a need there is a right.”

Milei cautioned that the socialists “will get into the state and use the state to impose a long term agenda that will destroy everything it touches.”

For business leaders, he said, “So we need a commitment, from all those who create wealth, to fight against socialism, to fight against statism, and to understand that if they fail to do so, the socialists will keep coming.”

Milei then explained why socialists were so hardcore about opposing capitalism:

Since they try to leech off others, without working, they are tireless in their pursuit. Their leitmotif in life is to live off of others. So they never give up on this mechanism to gain control of others wealth, money, or income. So this battle must be waged unceasingly. We cannot take a day off, because when we rest, socialism creeps in.

President-elect Milei promises drastic changes

Newsweek reported on Milei’s victory on Sunday:

Milei was crowned the winner of a fiercely polarized run-off ballot on a populist platform, taking 55.7 percent of the vote to 44.3 percent for Sergio Massa, a center-left politician and economic minister, with 99.4 percent of the votes tallied.

Cast on a backdrop of 140 percent inflation and rising poverty, the 53-year-old self-described “anarcho-capitalist”—known as “the wig” by his fans due to his mop of hair—promised a dramatic shake-up of the state, including dismembering the nation’s central bank and replacing the Argentine peso with the U.S. dollar…

Delivering a victory speech, Milei vowed that the “reconstruction of Argentina begins today,” adding the nation’s “situation is critical. The changes our country needs are drastic.”

With an inflation rate of 143%, it’s not exactly shocking that Argentinian voters decided to take a chance on a new president – who is also a working economist – that would reject the socialism they have been subjected to for far too long.
